Hepatobilliary Scan
What is the scan for?
The scan shows how well the gall bladder is working or, if you have already had your gall bladder removed, if there are any blockages in the bile duct.
What preparation is required?
Patient must have something to eat 3 hours prior to the test and then fast until the test is completed.
What about the injection?
This is given in a small vein in your arm. There is a delay of 45 – 60 minutes and imaging commences.
What about the pictures?
These take approximately 2 hours to complete.
When do I get the results?
Results will be available the following day after 2pm.
